Teaching Objectives: Pronunciation practise. Practise the simple future tense again. Learn how to write a weather report and an e-mail.

Properties: Recorder, Overhead Projector

Language Focus: Checkpoint 12.

Teaching Procedures:

I. Organizing the class

  Greet the whole class and invite one student to give a duty report related to what\'s going to be learned.

II. Revision

  Write a short passage using the words given below

  bad, last, not, long, think, get better, soon, radio, rain, stop, later on, so, go shopping, later.

  Reference answer:

  The weather is bad now. But it won’t last too long. I think it’ll get better soon. Because the radio says the rain will stop later on. So I\'ll go shopping later.

III. Pronunciation Practice

  T:0pen your books, look at Exercise One.

  Pay attention :

  Now, listen and repeat after the tape

IV. Leading in

  T: Let\' s look at Exercise Two. Read the two dialogues\' patterns first, then practise saying them in pairs.

  T:OK! Now let\'s listen to your results one by one.

V. Presentation

Language Points.

  1. I hope (that) subject + verb

  I hope you’ll get well soon.

  2. I love + noun.

  I love my family and my school, and I love my country, too.

  3. much + comparative degree. 

  Mike is much taller than Jim.

VI. Practice

  Make two new models according to the patterns.

1.

  A: I think it will be snowy tomorrow.

  B: I hope you’re wrong. I don’t like snow.

    I hope you’re right. I love snow.

2.

  A: I think it will be dry tomorrow.

  B: No, it won\'t! I think the weather will be much better.

  (Now let the students close their English books. Try to say something about the weather. Then ask two or three students to tell the whole class. )

VI. Leading in

  Ask the students to look at the table first, then read it together.

  Ask them to guess what season it is.
