【精析】 爱好体育的同学一定知道有些赛事分上、下半场，其表达法是：上半场in the first half (of the match), 下半场in the second half (of the match)。短语中介词用in，并且序数词前要加定冠词the。

【精析】 play后接运动名词，表示从事某运动，运动名词前无冠词，如：play volleyball。play for可表示\"效力于某运动队\"，如：Which team do you play for? 而play against有\"与......对阵\"的意思，如：We are going to play against the American team.


此外，介词against（反义词for）有\"与......比赛；与......对阵；抗击；对抗\"等意思，如本课中的You said your next match was against a girls\' team. 再如：


We are for peace and against war. 我们赞成和平，反对战争。


We will fight against the enemy. 我们要抗击敌人。


Why are you always against me? 你为什么总是跟我作对？

【精析】 这四个词在表示某项赛事时，各有侧重。


sport通常指户外运动，如足球、篮球、划船、游泳等，还可作\"运动会\"讲。例如：


Skating is one of the winter sports. 滑冰是冬季运动的一种。


We are going to have a school sports meeting next week. 下周我们要举行一次学校运动会。


game一方面指户外的体力运动，也指智力方面的运动，如游戏，下棋等，也可以表示大型运动会。如：


Children are playing a game. 孩子们正玩游戏。


The Olympic Games will be held in Beijing in 2008. 2008年奥运会将在北京举行。


match常用于预先安排好的正式比赛。如：


The American team won the football match. 美国队赢了足球赛。


race主要用于赛跑，赛车等速度比赛。如：


Who can win the relay race, Class 3 or Class 4?谁会赢得接力赛，一班还是二班？
